Photography gear: Bring your camera(s), extra batteries, memory cards and a tripod head (ball head, video head, or gimbal). The tripod head is attached to a metal plate. A bean bag can also be used for support. Note: tripods cannot be used inside the hides.

Clothing: For the cold months (October to early May), you’ll need a winter jacket and trousers, warm boots, a hat, gloves, and a scarf or buff. We recommend dressing in layers so you can adjust to the temperature. In other seasons, wear layers with waterproof outerwear and sturdy shoes or boots. The walk to the hides can be snowy, wet, or muddy. In some hides, you will be without shoes. If you wish, bring warm indoor shoes or wool socks with you.

Snacks and drinks: Bring your own snacks and water, and you may want to bring a thermos with a hot drink for added comfort. Please note: there is no electricity or way to heat food in the hides. The time spent in the hides varies between 3 and 12 hours. Especially in the capercaillie hide, where you stay overnight (12–14 hours), be sure to bring enough food and drinks.

Smoking: Please remember that smoking is strictly prohibited! A cleaning fee of 500 euros will be charged for smoking inside the hide.
